George Lloyd

George Albert Lloyd, 86, of Homeland, GA, passed away Saturday, June 29 at Folkston Park Nursing Home.  He was born December 26, 1932 in Homeland, GA to the late John Lloyd and Winnie May Guinn Lloyd.  He retired from the U.S. Navy with more than 20 years of dedicated service.  Mr. Lloyd was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved to garden and grow citrus trees.  He and Mrs. Lloyd enjoyed traveling hundreds of miles just to eat lunch.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister:  Hazel Wise and 2-brothers:  Roy Lloyd and Bud Lloyd.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years:  Velma Jean O’Berry Lloyd; 3-children:  George Timothy (Christine) Lloyd, Jack Rufus (Joy) Lloyd and James Thomas Lloyd; 2-brothers:  Glenn Lloyd and John Lloyd; 2- sisters:  Judy Dixon and Linda Brown; 5-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 1 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston, GA  from 6-8 PM.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home with Rev. Clayton Davis.  Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery with full military honors.
